Mini-Split Systems

Mini-Split Systems
Using the latest technology, and trusted brands like Fujitsu, Moovair, York, and Carrier we use cost-effective, energy-efficient systems to keep you comfortable.

Single-Zone Mini Split Systems

Single-zone Mini Split Systems
Are you looking for an economical system to heat and cool a single area or small room? A single-zone Mini Split system is likely the right solution for you.

Installation is quick and straightforward, allowing for a rapid set up. These systems are space-efficient, perfect for maximizing room space with their wall-mounted or ceiling-installed options, blending seamlessly into your decor.

Multi-zone Mini Split System

Multi-zone Mini Split System
Multi-zone Mini Split Systems allow for personalized comfort utilizing separate zones, which allow heating and cooling suited to your individual preferences.

These systems are designed for optimum energy-efficient performance, enabling precise control over specific zones, and reducing energy bills by avoiding unnecessary heating or cooling of unused areas.

Ducted Heat Pumps

Ducted Heat Pumps
A great option if your home has existing well maintained ductwork. Ducted heat pumps are HVAC systems that utilize existing ductwork in a home to distribute heated or cooled air throughout your living and working spaces.

One of the advantages of ducted heat pumps is their ability to integrate with existing heating systems, such as oil or gas furnaces.

Gas Furnaces

Gas Furnaces
If your home has existing ductwork and you’re working within the constraints of a lower-capacity electrical panel (less than 100-amp), a gas furnace could be the ideal solution for your heating needs. Its reliable performance and compatibility with your home’s infrastructure make it a practical choice, ensuring consistent warmth throughout your living spaces without the need for extensive electrical upgrades.

Cooling & Air Filtration

If you have allergies, asthma, or other respiratory conditions, an air purifier or filtration system may be a good fit for your home. Concerned about airborne particles, including dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, bacteria and viruses?

At Thermo Tec, we can address virtually any air quality concerns through options such as HEPA filters, UV sterilizing systems and ventilation solutions like HRV systems.

We can offer advice and consultation on which option would be best for you and your Comox Valley home.

Air Conditioning

Cooling systems are essential for maintaining safety and comfort in homes and businesses, especially as summers in the Comox Valley seem to be getting longer and hotter.

All heat pumps also have a cooling feature, and we recommend installing a heat pump with both functions, rather than a standalone air conditioning unit.

Heat pumps leverage the principles of thermodynamics to extract heat from the air in winter for heating and remove heat from indoor spaces in summer for cooling.

By opting for a heat pump with heating and cooling capabilities, you not only enjoy year-round comfort but also benefit from increased energy efficiency and cost savings.

However, you may want to opt for a central air conditioning system, which uses a network of ducts to distribute cool air throughout a building. Central air conditioners are efficient for cooling multiple rooms, but they require extensive ductwork.

Ductless mini-split systems are similar to central air conditioning but don’t require ductwork. Each indoor unit is installed in a different room and can be controlled independently, making mini-splits efficient and flexible for cooling specific areas.

Let the experts at Thermotec help you decide what system would work best for you, whether it’s the addition of an air conditioning unit or the installation of a heat pump cooling system.

General Repairs

General Repairs
If your system is operating inefficiently, making noises, or just not working at all – contact ThermoTec for a general maintenance call.

Our professional and knowledgeable team will schedule a prompt service call to sort out problems with your system. We offer transparent servicing and parts costs, and timing for repair.

Seasonal Maintenance

Seasonal Maintenance
To keep your heating or cooling system operating at its most efficient, we recommend an annual maintenance call.

We go over the operation of the system, and ensure each component is operating as it should. During this call, we will also offer recommendations and pricing on any parts that are showing signs of wear and tear.

The service includes but is not limited to:

  • Replace filters (please note: new filters are not included in the cost of the service. If you would like to purchase filters at the time of your service, we will add these as a separate line item)
  • Check bearings, and belt tension on HVAC
  • Check heating elements for proper operation and amp draw
  • Check contactors and wiring for signs of rubbing and wear
  • Check electrical connections for signs of wear
  • Check condensate drains are clear
  • Cycle unit on after checks – check regular operation and defrost
  • T-stat – reset filter timers, check time is correct
  • Check all panels are secure

HVAC Cleaning

Deep Clean for Mini Splits Has it been a few years since your heat pump was installed? Have you recently done renovations or repairs to your property that generate dust? Then it may be time for a deep clean of your indoor unit.

Getting a deep clean service improves air quality by circulating cleaner air throughout your home. This service can also improve the operating efficiency of your unit.A deep clean service includes:

  • Cleaning of the heat pump main housing
  • Internal barrel fan cleaning and sanitization
  • Removal and scrubbing of the filters and core parts
  • Inspection of the outdoor vent covers and cleaning
  • Cleaning of the ceiling and/or wall vent covers
  • Cleaning and sanitization of the evaporator coil
  • Cleaning and sanitization of the condensation tray
  • Flushing (or replacement if necessary) of the condensate drain
  • Drying of all cleaned and sanitized parts, and testing to ensure proper operation

Duct Cleaning

Duct Cleaning
While cleaning your ducts will not (sadly) remove dusting from your chores list, it does offer a few benefits that you’ll be sure to notice.

  • Increased efficiency: Having your ducts cleared of any debris can help your entire system work more efficiently. Clean ducts mean that your furnace or air conditioner don’t need to work as hard to circulate air in your home. Plus, if you have your furnace cleaned alongside your ducts, it will help improve its efficiency as well.
  • Cleaner indoor air: Removing excessive amount of dust, debris or mold from your air duct system can lead to improved air quality in your home, which may reduce airborne allergens or irritants for you and your family.

In addition to normal accumulations of dust and dirt found in all homes with air ducts, homeowners who have the following should clean their air ducts more often:

  • Pets living in the home
  • Occupants with allergies or asthma
  • Cigarette or cigar smoke
  • Water contamination or damage to the home or HVAC system
  • Home renovation or remodeling projects

Some homeowners are more sensitive to these contaminants than others. Allergy and asthma sufferers, as well as young children and the elderly, tend to be more susceptible to the types of poor indoor air quality that air duct cleaning can help address.

What to Expect
**On the day of service:**

  • Our duct cleaning team (typically 1-2 technicians) will come to your home within your scheduled appointment window. They use large hoses connected to the venting at the furnace unit, and the floor vents. One hose will agitate the dirt, while the other will suction the air through the vents, effectively capturing all debris. This allows us to create a top-notch clean
  • There will be an access point cut into your vents to allow access to every corner. This hatch is about 15”x15” and will be patched on completion of the duct cleaning
  • Duct cleaning appointments are available from Monday to Thursday, with two arrival windows to choose from: 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. or 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

**Things to note:**

    • All pets must be secured and comfortable
    • Full access to the entire house, including bedrooms and possibly closets where vents are located, is necessary
    • To enable cleaning, furniture must be moved away from the vents. If needed, we can assist with moving the furniture (any additional costs associated with this will be transparently included in the service price)
    • Certain exterior doors will need to remain open during the process
    • Please be advised that this service is noisy and may take 3-5 hours, depending on the size of your heating system. You will only need to be home to allow us access at the beginning of the service
    • Please ensure parking is available as close to your house as possible
    • Avoid using your clothes dryer 24 hours prior to our visit, as heavy lint can hinder the cleaning process

Payment is due upon completion of the service. If you are not available at the time of completion, we kindly request a credit card number on file for the final charge.
